Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you?

SpineWise was founded in November 2021 by three motivated founders: Nicolas, Liesbeth, and Thomas. Each specialized in their own expertise: Nicolas as a software specialist, Liesbeth as a physiotherapist, and Thomas as a hardware expert. Together, they started with the aim of reducing back and shoulder pain. Meanwhile, the team has expanded to include three permanent employees and around ten flexible workers.

What are the wearables for?

The purpose of the wearables is to map the postures and movements of the back in order to gain insight into physical strain. We aim to identify specific bottlenecks and uncover certain patterns for specific groups and tasks, based on objective data and input from the employees themselves. Additionally, with the wearables, we will also sensitize, educate, and make employees more aware of their postures via a vibration signal in the wearables. Of course, we also assess the impact of this vibration signal on the employees. This allows us to provide the data that can help determine whether additional analyses are necessary, or whether adjustments to infrastructure or additional tools are needed, or if additional training is recommended... etc.

What do the wearables exactly do?

SpineWise develops wearbles that can be easily attached to clothing, and measure the posture and movements of the back in the workplace. The data from the wearables is then transferred to our secure cloud environment and processed automatically. SpineWise's wearables measure the tilt relative to the gravity field and convert it into angles. The wearables communicate constantly with each other to provide real-time feedback to the user.
